In the months of July and August 2019 an information campaign was held by the Euroradar Association in the Smolyan region, included in WP (work package) 5: Information, trainings and awareness raising campaign within the project “Improving Healthcare Access through a Personal Health Monitoring System – eHealthΜonitoring”
The campaign was conducted in parallel in two different channels- on the Internet and by means of meetings in preselected settlements. In the course of the campaign, information meetings were held in various settlements in the region of Smolyan Municipality – the villages of Smilyan, Dunevo, Tarun and residential areaUstovo in town of Smolyan. During the meetings the project objectives, activities and expected results were presentedand the practical application of eHealth concept were discussed.
The awareness raising campaign also included a survey to gather information from the target groups that were involved. The surveywas conducted during the information events and also in the form of an on-line survey. Nearly 400 people responded to the survey, 65% of whom said they were unfamiliar with eHealth concept. After getting acquainted with theproject materials within the course of the information campaign, 74.2% of the respondents said that they accepted and fully supported the idea of introducing telemedicine. 54.31% of respondents have visited their GP several times in the last year, and 19.32% – have visited their GP more than five times. When asked “Can you rely on your doctor 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?”Almost 90% of the respondents said they could not, and 33.33% of those persons said that they would like to be able to access their GP 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
